If I could share one thing with you about myself, it would be my passion and desire to help those in need. I think I inherited this incredible gift from parents.

I remember when I was about 13 years old and I was sitting in the back seat of my dad’s car, I asked my dad a question. “Why do people, whom you don’t even know, call you, even in the middle of the night, and ask for your help, and you always say sure, I’ll be right over. And then when you’re done helping them out, you never ask for any money.” He said, “son, we must always do our best to help others, whenever we can.” “But why, don’t you even ask for money?” I asked. His response was something I would never forget.  “It’s not about the money, it’s bigger than that. It’s the feeling and the knowledge that you get when you leave someone who you’ve helped, the feeling that you were able to make a difference in someone elses life. It’s a certain satisfaction you get from knowing that you made someone’s life just a little better.”

Many years went by before I really understood what my dad was talking about.

Let me digress for a moment to tell you a bit about my personal life, before telling you about my profession and how I came to really understand and put my father’s words. I’m married to my best friend and have 3 incredible daughters. Two have recently graduated college and one will be going to college in another year. I love to travel, and spend time with my family.

As a professional, it’s only fair to describe myself as entrepreneur who loves a good business challenge and creating solutions to them. As of this bio, I have founded my own businesses and have seen them flourish; I have worked in every area of the real estate market and currently work as Business Manager and COO for one of the largest security alarm companies in Southern California.

Unlike many other people, I love my job and I admire the people I work for. Not just because of everything they accomplished and how selflessly they give back to their community, but also for everything they have taught me over the years. If I had to pick just one life lesson that I learned from the people that I work with, it was this: “Having a plan B that you can readily implement is one of the best solutions to any financial problem, but having a proactive plan B will always will be much more valuable than having a backup degree or some certificate of accomplishment, which won’t add up to an automatic job.

I took the lessons of my co-workers and that of life and decided to be proactive about my own plan B.

The idea of starting my own home based business came to me one day when I was sick. I had the flu, and was out of work for about 3 days. I got to thinking about my future and the future of my family in the event that I would be unable to go to work because of a serious illness or injury. Well, I’m not sure what made me feel worse, the flu or the fact that the way of life as I know it could change drastically for the worse if my income came to a sudden halt.

That’s when I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and start aggressively working on my “Plan B”. It’s not that I wasn’t thinking about my “Plan B” before, I just never found a plan B that worked for me. All the businesses that I had looked at required me quitting my job and would have me devoting endless hours and a boat load of money to making the business work.

Those other business ideas also required dealing with employees, rent, inventory, sales, bookkeeping and a lot of headache that I didn’t want to be bothered with. They weren’t for me. I wanted a business that would make my life easier, not harder. My search for a plan B took the form of scouring the Internet in search of a viable home based business. I can’t even begin to tell you all the scams that I found out there. Everything from stuffing envelopes to wellness pill pushers. I wasn’t going to buy into any of that, I thought, especially the multi level marketing (MLM) pyramid scheme where I would have to sell products to my friends and family.

While conducting more research Online and reading real MLM success stories, I started to entertain the possibility of getting involved in an MLM business and while I found that there were a lot of MLM scam companies out there, I also found some very good companies. Companies that were gaining serious traction and respect among the average consumer like you and I. My negative attitude toward network marketing really turned around after I read an article Online about how a Harvard professor by the name of Charles King began to take notice of the impact that MLM was making on the economy. He realized that some of the most successful businessmen already used the MLM formula and network marketing strategies to make themselves MILLIONS of dollars.

Take Donald Trump and Warren Buffet for instance. After much research and consideration, King discovered that both Trump and Buffet used MLM companies to successfully leverage their brands. In the past, even well-known companies like Texas Instruments or even Coca Cola used network marketing in selling their products worldwide.

Instead of ignoring the trend, Professor Charles King embraced the magic and structure  that is the secret to multi level marketing.  King writes of network marketing as being more than a market strategy; to him, it is a clear collaboration between products, experience, and people. He found that the MLM strategy took into consideration the basic human nature; to share ideas and to create relationships and bonds with people.

Network marketing worked to strengthen businesses’ customer and customer bases. He discovered that businesses that implemented a networking marketing strategy maintained a strong customer and seller base much more effectively than the run-of-the-mill business that hired sales people.

Now that I had educated myself with the MLM business model and understood the components of its success I put my ego and my pride aside and decided to look at the industry again. This time, with an open mind. I had come to the conclusion that there could be a multi level marketing company that had all the ingredients for a perfect plan b business. The only problem was that I had no desire to sell vitamins, cosmetics or Tupperware.

After 6 months of looking for the right network marketing company to partner up with, I gave up my search, because I only found companies that sold product and that would have meant that I too would have to sell products to people, take money from them, stock product, ship it etc., and that wasn’t what I had in mind, regardless of the marketing benefits of the MLM strategy.

Then out of the blue, an associate that I work with, in the real estate industry, contacted me about a new business venture he got involved with, and asked me if I was looking to make some extra money. As he was telling me about the company he got into, I was googling the company to dig up some dirt, but what I found was only positive facts and statistics about the company, like the fact that they were just ranked the #1 fastest growing company in America by INC 500. Well if INC 500 did all their research on the company and had only good things to say about them, then that was a pretty good reason to get me to hear more.

The deal closer came when Robert, my real estate friend, asked me to answer 3 questions. They were: 1) “How many people do I know that use gas or electric?” I answered “that’s a silly question; just about everyone uses gas or electric.” 2) “How many of those people do you think would want to save money on their natural gas and electric bill?” “Well, that was another silly question. Just about everyone”, I answered. 3) “How would you like to make money every time one of those people pays their natural gas and electric bill?” “Dahhhhh…Of course I want to”, I said.

Looking back, I can say that the best thing about owning my own business is the satisfaction of knowing that I’m in control of my own destiny and knowing that when I choose to retire I’ll have a steady flow of monthly residual income to secure the life style I want for my family. I’ll have the Freedom to do what I want, when I want, whether it’s spending time with my family, traveling, volunteering for charity’s, or simply doing nothing. The piece of mind knowing that comes with not having to rely on anyone for my family’s well being is truly priceless.

I can sleep well knowing my “Plan B”, home based business that I’m building, on a part time basis, will generate a full time income with a steady stream of income whether I choose to work, or not. I call it my “retirement mailbox income”. It sure beats having to rely on Social Security, which we all know won’t be around very long.

So there up have it folks, I found the perfect home based business that uses proven network marketing strategies to leverage my success and retirement mailbox income and through my business, I am able to realize my father’s passion for enhancing the lives of others, every day that I operate my business. Even if I am only helping them save on their energy bills every month, I am making people’s better every day. I am providing something that everyone uses, I had a low startup cost, I’m not selling any product and I’m helping people save money. I can work at this business part time and it provides me with a steady flow of monthly residual income.
